A single 42.195 km loop starting and finishing on via dei Fori Imperiali, right in front of the Colosseum. You run through the heart of the Eternal City: the Circus Maximus, the embankments along the Tiber, Castel Sant'Angelo and St Peter's Square, Trastevere, piazza Navona and piazza del Popolo, before heading back to the Forums. The profile is essentially flat, with a few short rises and several stretches of sampietrini cobbles that call for careful footing and a slightly more cushioned shoe. In mid March the day usually starts around 5-8 degrees and climbs to 15-17 by midday, with some chance of rain. Coach's advice: control the first kilometres, run softly on the cobbles and drink regularly from the start.
Saturday: arrival in Rome and check-in at the Accademia hotel, a few steps from the Trevi Fountain; bib collection with the KiRun staff, a group shakeout run with the coach to loosen your legs, and the pre-race briefing at the KiRun desk in the hotel, covering kit, pacing and start logistics. Sunday: early breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the start area as included in your package, race day, and the KiRun meeting point after the finish to share how it went. Monday: breakfast, one last walk through the centre and departure, or an extra night to stay longer. KiRun staff are in the hotel all weekend; cultural excursions, dinners and tastings remain optional.
Rome is easy to reach by train: high-speed services arrive at Termini and Tiburtina, both on the metro network, and the Accademia hotel sits centrally, close to the Trevi Fountain. By car you come in from the ring road, but keep in mind the restricted traffic zones in the historic centre: a supervised car park is the sensible choice, leaving the car parked for the whole weekend. Around town you mostly walk, using the metro and buses for longer hops and for getting back to the station. On race day the transfer included in your package takes care of things, so you needn't worry about timetables or parking on the morning itself.
Is the bib really guaranteed? Yes, guaranteed bibs from 65 €, while the KiRun allocation lasts: bibs are currently available. Can I bring a companion who is not running? Of course, there is a rate without a bib: just ask us for it. Are race day transfers included? Yes, the package covers accommodation and transfers on race day, with KiRun staff on hand. What happens if I get injured before the start? The 19 € insurance covers trip cancellation for injury and illness up to the day of departure. Do you help with my training too? Yes, with the KiRun group training programme and a tutor following you through your build-up. When do I pay? On booking we confirm the deposit and the balance deadline.
