You start on the Reichsbrücke, the wide bridge over the Danube, and finish in Heldenplatz, right in front of the Hofburg. In between you get the best of Vienna: the greenery of the Prater, the riverside, Schönbrunn Palace, the Opera and the sweep of the Ringstrasse with its imperial façades. The course is flat and fast, with broad tarmac and gentle bends, ideal if you are chasing a personal best. The half marathon runs on the same day and shares the opening part of the route. April is kind to runners here: around 6-9 degrees at the start, 15-18 in the middle of the day, with the odd shower and some wind along the river. Coach's tip: hold your pace on the slightly downhill bridge and keep something for the run back into town.
Friday: arrival in Vienna, airport transfer included and hotel check-in, then bib collection with the KiRun staff, who go with you and explain how it all works. Saturday: group shakeout run with the KiRun coach, free time to explore the city on foot, and the pre-race briefing at the KiRun desk in the hotel, covering kit, pacing, fuelling and start logistics. Sunday: early breakfast at the hotel, heading to the Reichsbrücke together with the group, race day, and the KiRun meeting point after the finish for photos and stories. Monday: breakfast, transfer to the airport and home, or an extra night if you want Vienna at a slower pace. KiRun assistance is with you throughout the stay.
Vienna is reached by air from Italy, with direct flights from the main airports and one-stop connections from the others. Vienna-Schwechat airport lies south-east of the city, and transfers to and from the hotel are included in the package, so you do not have to work out trains or drag a suitcase around on the way home after the race. Getting around town is easy: the U-Bahn, trams and buses are punctual and cover every district, and a day ticket takes you to the start, the centre and the restaurants without fuss. On race morning you move towards the Reichsbrücke together with the KiRun staff. The imperial centre, from the Ringstrasse to Heldenplatz, is best walked, even on tired legs.
Is the race entry included in the price? No, it is added to the package: 95 € for the marathon, 75 € for the half and 165 € for the four-person relay, and it is guaranteed while the KiRun allocation lasts. Are bookings open? Yes, the trip is open for bookings, and the earlier you book the safer your place is. Can I bring a non-running companion? Of course, with the rate without a race entry: just ask us for the quote. What if I get injured before departure? The 29 € insurance covers trip cancellation for injury and illness up to the day of departure. When do I pay?
