You run on the hills and ridges of the Biella area, along footpaths, mule tracks and gravel sections that climb through chestnut and beech woods, pass stone hamlets and open onto views over the plain and the Biellese mountains. There are three distances, 44, 20 and 8 km, with real elevation gain, climbs you may well walk and technical descents; the 44 km also awards the Italian CSEN Ultratrail title. In late October autumn is well under way: 4-8 degrees in the early hours, 13-16 in the middle of the day, damp air, possible rain or mist and a trail covered in leaves. Coach's advice: shoes with good grip, poles if you use them, care on the descents and dry clothes for afterwards.

Friday: arrival in Biella, check-in at your B&B or hotel and a first hello at the KiRun desk, where you get practical details on timings, kit and transfers. Saturday: race number collection with our staff, shake-out run with the KiRun coach on the gentler trails around town, free time, then the pre-race briefing covering equipment, pacing the climbs and fuelling. During the weekend you can add the optional cultural and nature excursions and tastings included in the programme, to be requested separately. Sunday: early breakfast, transfer to the start organised by us, your race on the distance you have chosen, pasta party and the KiRun meeting point at the finish, then travel home or an extra night if you prefer.

Biella is easy to reach by car: from the A4 Turin-Milan motorway take the Santhià exit and continue on the dual carriageway; coming from Milan you can also go via Novara. By train you arrive at Biella San Paolo station, changing at Santhià or Novara. If you fly into Milan or Turin, you can continue by train or with a hire car. Locally a car is the handiest option, but on race morning you will not need one: the race-day transfers are included in the package and run by KiRun staff, who take you to the start and meet you again at the finish. Hill roads are narrow and often damp at dawn, so allow plenty of time if you drive.

Is my place guaranteed? Yes, the KiRun package includes entry to the distance you choose, 44, 20 or 8 km, while our allocation lasts: entries are open, so it is worth booking early. Can I bring a non-running companion? Of course, there is a dedicated rate without a race number: just ask us for the price. How do I get to the start on race morning? Race-day transfers are included and organised by the KiRun staff. What if I get injured before the trip? The 19 € insurance covers cancellation of the trip for injury and illness up to the day of departure. When do I pay? When you book we tell you the deposit and the balance deadline.
