The longest marathon in the world, because nobody is in a hurry: 42 km among the vineyards and châteaux of the Médoc, with wine tastings at the aid stations, oysters and steak in the final kilometres, runners in fancy dress and bands along the route. The time limit is six and a half hours and the course is flat, but the clock is not the point. A weekend in Bordeaux for those who love running, eating and laughing.

A single loop starting and finishing in Pauillac, in the heart of the Médoc, north of Bordeaux. You run between the vine rows and through the courtyards of the wine châteaux, crossing Pauillac, Saint-Julien and Saint-Estèphe on country roads and short gravel stretches, on a profile that is essentially flat with only gentle rises. The aid stations serve wine tastings, and oysters and steak turn up in the closing kilometres, with bands, locals and runners in fancy dress all along the way. In early September temperatures run from 14-16 degrees in the morning to 24-26 in the early afternoon, sunny, with humid air coming off the estuary. Coach's tip: run by feel, drink water at every station and save the tastings for the second half.
Friday: arrival in Bordeaux, check-in at the Mercure Cité Mondiale and bib collection with our staff, who talk you through the logistics of the race. In the afternoon, an easy shake-out run with the KiRun tutors and the pre-race briefing at the KiRun desk in the hotel, with advice on kit, pacing, fancy dress and how to handle the aid stations. In the evening, if you have chosen it, the 'Milles-pâtes' dinner served in a château, transfers included. Saturday: early breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Pauillac, race, and the KiRun meeting point at the finish. If you have the Premium package or have added it, there is the 'walk away lunch' among the vineyards, transfers included. Sunday: breakfast and journey home, or an extra night in Bordeaux.
Bordeaux is reached by air from Italy, with direct or connecting flights depending on your departure airport; Mérignac airport lies west of the city and is linked to the centre by tram and shuttle services. In town you get around on foot and by tram: the hotel is in the Chartrons district, along the Garonne, a short walk from the old centre, Place des Quinconces and the Quais. The start is in Pauillac, some fifty kilometres north in the Médoc: we arrange the race-morning transfer together with our staff, so all you have to think about is running. If you prefer the train, Bordeaux Saint-Jean station is well connected with Paris and the rest of France.
Is the bib really guaranteed? Yes, at 90 € and while the KiRun allocation lasts: places are limited, so it is worth booking early. What is the difference between Smart and Premium? Both include the KiRun training programme and a tutor during your preparation; Premium adds the 'walk away lunch' among the vineyards, the e-meeting with our federal coach, the briefing and the pre-race warm-up run with our tutors. Can I bring a non-running companion? Of course, with the companion rate without a bib: just ask us for it. What happens if I get injured before the start? The 29 € insurance covers trip cancellation for injury and illness up to departure day. When do I pay? When you book we tell you the deposit and the balance deadline.
