The first edition, as mentioned, took place in 1980 and saw the participation of just under 1,000 competitors, 995 to be precise. Over the years, however, interest in this event has continually grown to over 12,000 participating athletes. The reason for this is mainly due to the fact that the completely flat course makes it easier to run, and for many professionals it is a golden opportunity to be able to improve their personal time over this distance.

The marathon course

The start of the marathon has been set for 9:30 a.m. from Langebro and includes a route that will run along the main streets of the city and will give athletes the opportunity to touch several points where beautiful monuments and some of the city’s most important green parks are located, such as Felled’s and Kirkegard’s. Once the planned distance has been covered, the finishing point is expected to be in angerbro (Island Brygge) near the point where the race was started. As we mentioned, the course is mostly flat: in fact, suffice it to say that the highest point reached is only 15 meters.
The total time of the race has been set at 6 hours, and should some athletes at the end of the first 3 hours not have reached the 21 km mark, the race organization reserves the right to ensure that roads are reopened to make sure that normal city traffic is secured.

The 42nd edition of the Copenhagen Marathon will take place next May 16 […]

Read More… from Copenaghen Marathon

[193
269,214,250
post-2759","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-races","tag-bibs-copenhagen-marathon","tag-copenaghen-marathon-en","tag-copenhagen-marathon
["GET
