The opening kilometres run slightly downhill across the bridge, with the Tagus below you and the city opening up ahead; then the course flattens out and follows the river all the way to the monuments of Belém. It is one of the fastest half marathon courses in the world and is part of the SuperHalfs circuit. March in Lisbon is mild: around 10-12 degrees in the morning and 16-18 in the middle of the day, with some wind possible on the bridge and along the riverfront. Sunday: early breakfast at the hotel, transfer with the group towards the start area, race, then the KiRun meeting point at the finish in Belém to celebrate together; free afternoon to rest or walk along the river. Monday: breakfast and journey home, or an extra night to enjoy Lisbon slowly.
Getting there and around
Lisbon airport is close to the city and linked to the centre by the metro. From Italy you get there by plane, with direct flights from the main airports or one stopover depending on where you leave from; the 'The flight' section sets out your two options, arranging it yourself and sending us the details, or asking us to add the flight for you. Around town you move easily on foot and by metro, with trams and buses for the steeper districts. The hotel is in Campo Pequeno, a quiet, well connected area: the metro stop is a few minutes' walk away and takes you into the centre, around Baixa, Alfama and Bairro Alto; to reach the start on the 25 de Abril Bridge, follow the directions of the KiRun staff.
FAQ
Is my race number guaranteed? Yes, with the KiRun package: entry to the EDP Half Marathon costs 129 € and is added to the package. Are entries open? Basic medical cover is included; for 29 € more you add trip cancellation for injury and illness up to departure day. When do I pay? When you book we tell you the deposit and the balance deadline.
