You run along the embankments, cross the bridges and keep Charles Bridge and the Castle in view: it is one of Europe's fastest half marathon courses and part of the SuperHalfs circuit. The elevation change is minimal, though a few cobbled stretches in the centre ask for a careful footstrike, especially in the rain. In early April Prague's spring is cool: 4-7 degrees in the early hours, 12-15 in the afternoon, dry air and possible wind along the river. Coach's advice: shoes with decent grip, light gloves to discard after a few kilometres, and a first 5 km just under goal pace, because the flat tempts you.
The weekend programme
Friday: arrival in Prague, hotel check-in and bib collection with the KiRun staff, who go with you and talk you through the race logistics. In the afternoon, a group shakeout run with the KiRun coach along the Vltava, followed by the pre-race briefing at the KiRun desk in the hotel: kit, pacing, managing the start and the aid stations. Saturday: early breakfast at the hotel, an easy approach to the Old Town, the race, and the KiRun meeting point at the finish for photos and first impressions. Sunday: a free day on light legs between Charles Bridge, Mala Strana and the Castle, with KiRun assistance always on hand. Monday: breakfast and return home, after the three nights with breakfast included.
Getting there and around
Prague is reached by air from Italy, with direct flights or one stop depending on your departure airport; you can book independently and send us the details, or ask us to arrange it, as explained in the 'Il volo' section. Vaclav Havel Airport lies west of the city and is linked to the centre by bus combined with the metro, as well as by taxi and private transfer. Around town you get everywhere on foot and by metro and tram, which run at the weekend too. The B&B Hotel Prague City sits in the Florenc area, a metro and bus hub close to the historic centre; the Clarion Old Town is a few minutes' walk from the start and finish zone.
FAQ
Is the bib guaranteed? Yes, with the 120 € supplement listed on this page, while the KiRun allocation lasts. Are entries open? Yes, the KiRun package is open for booking: the earlier you book, the more choice you have between the two hotels. Can I bring a non-running companion? Of course, with the companion rate without a bib: just ask us for the price. What does the insurance cover? Basic medical expenses cover is included; the cancellation policy, covering injury and illness up to the day of departure, can be added for 25 €. If I travel alone, must I pay for a single room? Not necessarily: the single supplement is 145 €, but we can pair you with another runner. When do I pay? At booking we tell you the deposit and the balance deadline.
